In the outgoing week (March 18 to 21), the stock market of the country traded in a downward trend. Trading volume also fell along with the index throughout the week. Besides, the market capitalization of both the stock exchanges decreased by more than 12 thousand 514 crore 18 lakh rupees in the outgoing week.

This information was revealed in the weekly market review of Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchange on Saturday (March 23).

1 thousand 985 crores 14 lakhs 10 thousand takas were traded in the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on the last working day of the farewell week. And the week before the farewell week was traded 2 thousand 793 crores 88 lakhs 10 thousand taka. In other words, the transaction in DSE decreased by 808 crore 74 lakh rupees during the week.

On the last working day of the outgoing week, the market capitalization stood at 6 lakh 92 thousand 540 crore 4 lakh taka. And on the last working day of the week before the farewell week, the market capitalization of DSE was 6 lakh 99 thousand 635 crore 46 lakh 50 thousand taka. That is, the market capital has decreased by 7 thousand 95 crore 42 lakh 50 thousand taka in the space of a week.

During the week, the main index of DSE DSEX fell by 26.38 points or 0.44 percent to 5 thousand 941 points. Among the other indices, DSE Shariah index decreased by 6.77 points or 0.52 percent to 1 thousand 293 points and DSE-30 index increased by 6.14 points or 0.30 percent to 2 thousand 57 points.

A total of 412 company shares and units were traded on DSE in the outgoing week. Among the institutions, 133 advanced, 229 declined, 33 were unchanged and 17 were not traded.

Another capital market, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), traded 66 crore 1 lakh 96 thousand taka on the last working day of the outgoing week. And in the week before the farewell week, 74 crore 90 lakh 46 thousand taka were traded. That is, during the week, the transaction in CSE decreased by 8 crore 88 lakh 50 thousand taka.

On the last working day of the outgoing week, the market capitalization stood at 7 lakh 20 thousand 331 crore 27 lakh 20 thousand taka. And on the last working day of the week before the farewell week, the market capitalization of CSE was 7 lakh 25 thousand 750 crore 3 lakh 10 thousand taka. That is, the market capital has decreased by Tk 5 thousand 418 crore 76 lakh within a week.

During the week, the overall index of CSE CASPI decreased by 153 points or 0.89 percent to 16 thousand 937 points. Among other indices of CSE, CSCX decreased by 0.91 percent to 10,168 points, CSE-30 index decreased by 0.33 percent to 12,768 points and CSI index decreased by 1.25 percent to 1,094 points.

A total of 312 companies’ shares and units were traded on the CSE during the outgoing week. Among the companies, 104 rose, 186 fell and 22 were unchanged.
