The Central Union of Municipalities of Greece is proceeding with the investigation of the constitutionality or otherwise of the circular, which concerns the transfer of property fire protection authority, reserving an appeal to the Council of State.

The mayor and member of the Board of Directors informed the municipal council of Ioannina about the matter. of KEDE Thomas Begas, noting that no municipality is able to respond, while he spoke of a classic case of transferring responsibilities, which involve criminal responsibilities, from the state to self-government, without the necessary financial and human resources.

“The issue is critical. The self-government does not refuse to cooperate in matters of civil protection, but such issues are not solved on the spot. At the meeting of the Board of Directors the KEDE unanimously decided to request the suspension of the application for this year’s fire season, as well as the payment to the municipalities of the necessary resources, so that the municipalities can respond to the responsibilities assigned to them”, said Mr. Begas, among other things.
