Promoting beach volleyball in Burkina

According to the president of the Center League, Dr. Jean Augustin Somda, beach volleyball is an innovation that his structure wanted to promote as part of its activities. “ This is a regular activity of our mandate.

We give the opportunity to young practitioners of the Center League and other leagues who are associated with this event to be able to come together around common interests and to healthily practice a sporting discipline which is new but which is full of many abilities which strengthen the mind », explains Jean Augustin Somda.

Esther and Fabiola showed solidarity to win this regional championship.

He said he was satisfied with the level of participation and performance of the players, particularly among the women. “ The major satisfaction for us is with the ladies. The last edition, we only had 6 women’s teams. So, this is to say that there is an impact of these last editions on the motivation and mobilization of players around beach volleyball. », Says President Somda.

The 3rd edition of the regional beach volleyball championship saw great enthusiasm among girls.

Form a team of young people

According to him, the Center League aims to promote beach volleyball at the national and international level. “ There is a women’s pair and a men’s pair who participated in a Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) competition in Cotonou. We didn’t qualify for the second round but we managed to get a number of wins », he adds. Jean Augustin Somda recalls that it is easier to take charge of a beach volleyball team unlike indoor volleyball teams which have larger numbers.

The Central Volleyball League is planning a youth competition at the end of October with a view to setting up a regional youth team for men and women. A call for applications is launched to recruit team supervisors. It also plans to hold its management council meeting soon.
