The Central Bank offered banks to transfer data to credit bureaus online

The Bank of Russia proposes to oblige banks to transfer data to credit bureaus in real time to combat credit fraud. Artem Sychev, the first deputy head of the information security department of the Central Bank, told the journalists about this on the sidelines of the Antifraud forum. For the second quarter in a row, the Central Bank records a decrease in damage to citizens from social engineering in the total amount of money stolen by fraudsters, but in fact the situation is not improving, Sychev admitted.

He explained that some cases of social engineering fraud do not yet fall directly into the statistics of the regulator. For example, schemes when fraudsters persuade a citizen to take out several loans in different banks and transfer the money received to them. According to Sychev, this is 100% social engineering, but it is not taken into account in the analytical report of the regulator, because these are not direct payments – the client does not transfer money directly from his account. “As a rule, the victims are low-income people. Relatively speaking, a person with a salary of 30,000 rubles. receives loans for 3 million rubles. in different banks. Then he was persuaded to transfer these 3 million through the terminal, ”says Sychev. But the problem is that the bank that issued the loan does not see the final recipient of this money.
