jpnn.comJAKARTA – Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) Suhartoyo said that his party is targeting the deadline for deciding the Presidential and Vice Presidential Election Results Case (PHPU), namely 14 working days from the time the petition is registered.

“We will remain optimistic as long as we can do the maximum. “Apart from that, sometimes it’s an instrument that is beyond our capabilities,” said Suhartoyo when met in Bogor, West Java, Wednesday (6/3) evening.

Suhartoyo said that the 14 working day deadline was actually short enough to decide on the President and Vice President’s PHPU case. This is because there will be many witnesses who need to be examined in the PHPU case.

“In last year’s presidential election, which was 2019, we usually only heard from 15 witnesses, right? Is not it? 2019, try to remember. So, now (for example) there are a thousand arguments, there must be a thousand witnesses. When are we going to examine the thousand witnesses?” said Suhartoyo.

He said that every argument put forward by the applicant must be proven. Proof can be done in many ways, namely through letters, witnesses, or experts; If the arguments put forward are many, he said the 14 working day deadline seemed short.

“A hundred arguments, do we want to hear a hundred witnesses? When is the time, 14 days?” said Suhartoyo.

However, Suhartoyo said that the Constitutional Court would definitely work optimally in deciding the PHPU case. However, he said, the deadline is absolute.

“God willing. “If that day seems absolute, you know, it’s limitative, it’s non-negotiable,” he also said.
