New Delhi – Former Prime Minister of India Dr. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari praised Manmohan Singh. Gadkari said that the country is always indebted to Manmohan Singh for his economic reforms. He was speaking at an award function in Delhi. Gadkari also said that India’s economic policy should be liberal if the benefits are to be made available to the poor people as well.

The economic reforms initiated by Manmohan Singh in 1991 when he was the Finance Minister gave a new direction to India. Because it opened the door to liberal economic policies. Gadkari also said that the country will always be indebted to him for the economic liberalization policies.

Gadkari mentioned how Manmohan Singh’s economic policies helped him when he was the Maharashtra minister. He said that in the mid-1990s, the economic policies of Manmohan Singh, the then finance minister, helped him find money to build roads in Maharashtra. Liberal economic policies are for farmers and the poor, he added. He also opined that China is a good example of how liberal economic policies can help the country’s development.
