About to enter Christmas. On December 18, 2010, just 13 years ago, Pereza gave her last concert at the then-called Palacio de los Deportes in Madrid. They dressed like they did then, with their skinny pants and his “8-year-old” tank top, as they used to say. That day, with Sidecars as the opening group, Rubén Pozo and Leiva presented their latest work, ‘Aviones’, and they were never Pereza again.
More than a decade later and on the same dates, the two Madrid singers have returned together to the same stage where they said goodbye before a completely dedicated audience, wasting emotion remembering the 2000s with which they were one of the most iconic bands of the timeespecially for Madrid.
Precisely the nods to the capital have been chosen to open and close the Pereza concert. Because this Tuesday’s show at what is now the Wizink Center has been very measured. Rubén Pozo was the opening act for this closing of the tour which has given way to the main artist with one of their songs: Margot.
As if it were any concert, Leiva started with some of the best-known songs from his solo albums before continuing with others from the new album that gives its name to the tour. We had to wait 15 songs, or in other words, around an hour and a half, to enjoy the concert that everyone was looking forward to. «The beautiful moment of the night has arrived», Leiva began by saying before introducing his “compa” and his friend with whom, he recalled, he has slept in “boarding houses with cockroaches”, has spent “the most beautiful years” of his life and has “tasted the honeys of success.” He was none other than Ruben.

13 years later, with a little less hair and no longer with tank tops, but with a shirt and lots of polka dots, Pereza once again sounded in the throats of thousands of people in unison with ‘Madrid’, ‘I think about that afternoon’, ‘Like you have it’ and ‘Polar Star’. Hands up, palms and overflowing enthusiasm.
“It is a very exciting moment for me,” Pozo acknowledged in front of a completely full pavilion to which he thanked the affection shown. And her appearance on stage with her musical partner for so many years has been a before and after in the entire show, which ended with both singing one of the duo’s most well-known and beloved lyrics, ‘Lady Madrid ‘, along with Juancho, the Sidecars vocalist who now shares the stage with his brother and 13 years ago was his opening act.
Three dates to close the tour
This Tuesday was one of the most special concerts for the Madrid artists, who came to play together at the Palacio de Vistalegre in 2012, shortly after separating, and met again almost by surprise on stage in 2021 in a concert by Iván Ferreiro, but nothing to do with the Wizink quote, which no fan wanted to miss.
