Polish serviceman Emil Chechko said that he could stay in Belarus if the opportunity arises. However, he denies that he has friends in this country. Mr. Chechko called the statements that he is a KGB agent of Belarus “a good joke”.
“If life somehow gets better, if I find some kind of job, why not (not stay in Belarus .— “B”)? I used to work as a welder, I know about electricity, ”said Mr. Chechko to the Belarusian state TV channel ONT.
An escaped Polish soldier confirmed the information that he had problems with the law, “related to his mother,” and that he was being treated for alcohol addiction. However, he denied information about friends in Belarus. “I don’t have such friends, it seems to me at least. At least it seems to me that I don’t know anyone, ”said Mr. Chechko.
Emil Chechko again confirmed that he participated in the murder of migrants on the Polish-Belarusian border. According to him, he would not have done this if “they hadn’t stood behind him with a pistol”.
Mr. Chechko fled Poland to Belarus on December 16. He asked for political asylum. According to him, the Polish security forces allegedly shot at the migrants gathered on the border of the two countries. The Polish prosecutor’s office brought the soldier in absentia charges of desertion.
