The Femme Lève-Toi Network (REFLET) launches its “Engaged Citizens” campaign

February 1, 2024

The Femme Lève-Toi Network (REFLET) launched its campaign “Citizens committed” together for women’s rights, this Thursday, February 1, 2024 in Libreville. This campaign is part of the promotion of women’s rights, with a focus on reducing inequalities between women and men. Also, this campaign will be an opportunity for the Network to advocate for the reduction of gender-based violence and the encouragement of women’s economic empowerment.

Violence against women is a concern for Gabonese society. Several human rights actors are looking into the issue in order to find solutions. This is undoubtedly the reason for the awareness campaign, launched by the Réseau Femme Lève-Toi (REFLET). Committed citizens, explains Fall Aya Mivigou, Project Communication Assistant, “is a project which aims to promote women’s rights, to inform and train women on the different aspects of women’s rights, so that they can appropriate them, appropriate the laws that have been promulgated in their favor“.

As part of this project, the Network insists on the organization of an awareness campaign which began this Thursday, February 1, 2024.This awareness campaign achieves the objective of the project, allowing women, through awareness tools, on our different platforms, our different social networks, to appropriate the laws, their rights and to know them better, to be better informed, trained and above all, better defend them” continued Fall Aya Mivigou, Project Communication Assistant.

The project’s Communication Assistant reminded us that in this month of February, the theme that will be addressed is: “Physical and sexual violence“. As for the second month, the theme will be: “Psychological violence“. For the third month, the theme chosen is: “Economic violence“. For the fourth and final month of the awareness campaign, the theme that will be highlighted is: ” The place of women in the family unit in Gabon“.

The awareness campaign will cover a period of four months, starting February 1, 2024.

It should also be noted that the project is financially supported by the European Union, French Development Agency (AFD), French Embassy through the PISCCA fund and National Endwomen for Democracy (NED).
