Despite the persistence of the war, the Ukrainian championship will resume its rights with a new season which will begin at the end of August.
The Ukrainian football championship will resume in August despite the invasion of Russia initiated at the end of February, announced on Monday the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine. The new season ofUkrainian football championship will start on August 23Vadym Gutzeit posted on Facebook.
Ukrainian football clubs decided on April 26 to end the previous season early, suspended in February due to the Russian offensive, without designating a champion. League leaders Shakhtar Donetsk were two points ahead of Dynamo kyiv when the Ukrainian authorities decided to end the season. Vadym Gutzeit also assured that the matches of the new season will take place on Ukrainian territory, but without spectators and in the obligatory respect of the decreed security rules.
Players safe in the event of air raids
«During the air raids, matches will be interrupted and football players, coaches and staff will have to move quickly to shelter“, specified the minister. Much of the sports infrastructure was damaged by strikes by Vladimir Putin’s troops and many foreign players left Ukrainian territory after the start of the Russian invasion on February 24.
