The Foreign Affairs Committee of the Libyan House of Representatives expressed its deep regret over the failure of the Security Council to adopt a draft ceasefire in Gaza, considering that this comes within a series of international disappointment to the residents of the Strip.

The parliamentary committee warned in its statement issued on Sunday evening that the continuation of the military operation in Rafah would have negative effects on stability and peace in the entire region.

The committee stressed the need to stop the aggression of the occupation forces immediately in order to deliver humanitarian aid, warning that the residents of Gaza are now threatened with famine, due to the severe shortage of supplies of food, water, medicine and fuel.

The committee explained that the actions of the occupation forces and their obstruction of the entry of humanitarian aid amount to crimes of genocide, demanding that those responsible be held accountable.

On the same level, the committee expressed its deep concern about the humanitarian situation in the West Bank as a result of the escalation of killings, arrests, and destruction of property carried out by settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank.

The committee renewed its call to the international community and Arab and Islamic countries to intensify efforts to stop hostilities in the Palestinian territories.
