The former mistress of the Spanish king Juan Carlos I Corinna zu Sain-Wittgenstein-Sain said that he wanted to marry her and even proposed several times, but she refused him. The details of the personal life of the monarch, who ceded the throne to his son Philip VI in 2014, became known from the lawsuit filed by Corinna against Juan Carlos I, in which she accuses him of persecution.
According to the newspaper El Pais, which gained access to the documents, the romantic relationship between the king and his mistress continued until 2009, when she decided to break them off, learning that she was not his only lover (and this is not counting his wife Queen Sofia). In 2012, Juan Carlos I tried to restore their connection and even traveled to Germany to ask her father for his daughter’s hand. At that time, according to Corinna, the king even wanted to draw up a will in which he would mention her and her family, but he did not dare to take this step, fearing that his family would challenge this decision. As a result, Juan Carlos I began to give her expensive gifts: works of art, sculptures, jewelry, helped to buy an apartment in London. In the end, he transferred $ 100 million (€ 64.8 million) to her.
But a few years later, as noted in the lawsuit, the king demanded this amount back. Corinna refused and Juan Carlos I, she claims, accused her of stealing money and defamed her family and business partners. She also accused the honorary monarch of “illegal secret and public surveillance” by members of his staff and the Spanish intelligence service.
Juan Carlos I’s representatives have denied the allegations, but have not yet presented their arguments to the London High Court, where the case is pending. The lawsuit was filed at the end of last year, but the media only became aware of it now. As noted, the woman demands to issue a court order prohibiting the honorary king of Spain and his representatives from communicating with her, monitoring her, making slanderous statements about her, or approaching her closer than 150 meters.
