Today, Friday, Minister of Justice Khaled Shawani affirmed the government’s interest in the human rights issue and its commitment to implementing international recommendations.
A statement from the ministry, received by the (INA), said: “Minister of Justice Khaled Shawani chaired the meeting of the National Committee for Writing International Reports on Human Rights, in the presence of a number of committee members from representatives of the ministries, to discuss the most important preparations regarding the Republic of Iraq’s report on the International Covenant on Economic and Social Rights.” and cultural conference held this month in Geneva.
The statement added, “The attendees reviewed preparations to implement the work of the National Committee for Writing Reports and opened the door for discussion among members of the Committee regarding discussion procedures and the distribution of roles to represent Iraq in international forums.”
Shawani stressed – according to the statement – “the government’s interest in the human rights file and its commitment to implementing international recommendations in this regard.”
