The Government is “very enthusiastic” about “all the work that is being done” to slow down the current levels of inflation, said the presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni, although he remarked that “clearly there is still a long way to go” before one can “feel some satisfaction with these numbers.
In a press conference held at the Casa Rosada, Adorni reiterated that “there is no better battle against inflation than pulverizing the fiscal deficit and ending the money-making machine,” although he also warned that the effects of “changes in political monetary and fiscal take time” to be reflected in price stability.
“Changes in monetary and fiscal policy take time, but there is no better way to improve salaries than by battling inflation,” he said, in addition to pointing out that although the Government “does not intervene in prices” it does “everything effort so that inflation is left behind and salaries regain their purchasing power.
Adorni again said that the Government “is not willing to sweep under the rug or lie” and that “shortly we will surely be seeing the results of economic policy.” “We don’t know when, it depends on a lot of variables, but we are going to try to make it happen in the shortest period we can,” he concluded.
