At the October 27 meeting, the RA government approved the decision to transfer the money needed for proper participation in the 31st World Winter Universiade ahead of schedule.

The 31st World Winter Universiade, the largest winter sports competition since the Olympics, will be held from January 12-22, 2023 in Lake Placid, USA. The RA delegation took part in the last three winter universiades. In 2023, for the first time, RA athletes will participate in the event with state funding.

“Taking into account that the event will be held in January 2023, it became necessary to provide the 19 million 312 thousand 300 drams needed to ensure participation in the games in October 4th quarter of 2022 instead of the 1st quarter of 2023, which will enable the implementation of the event advance payment transfers, US visa application fees, advance purchase of airline tickets and sports gear.

The necessary amount will be provided from the saved funds of the 2022 budget of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia”, reports the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
