The government has decided to buy fertilizers worth Tk 927 crore 71 lakh 25 thousand from Russia, China, Saudi Arabia and Morocco under the state level agreement. Among these, 120,000 tonnes of DAP from China and Saudi Arabia, 30,000 tonnes of TSP from Morocco and 30,000 metric tonnes of MOP fertilizer will be imported from Russia.
On Thursday (April 25) in the conference room of the Cabinet Division in the Secretariat, the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement held under the chairmanship of Law Minister Anisul Haque has approved the purchase of this fertilizer in view of the separate 5 proposals of the Ministry of Agriculture.
At the end of the meeting, the Secretary of Coordination and Reform of the Cabinet Department. Mahmudul Hossain Khan said that the import of 40 thousand metric tons of DAP fertilizer from Ma’aden in Saudi Arabia has been approved under the state level agreement. The total cost will be 243 crore 76 lakh taka. The price will be 554 US dollars per ton. Which was previously 581 USD.
In terms of another proposal, a proposal to import 30,000 metric tons of TSP fertilizer from Morocco’s OCP SA under a state-level contract has been approved. The total cost will be 125 crore 23 lakh 50 thousand taka. The price of fertilizer per ton will be 379.50 USD. Which was previously 386 USD.
The Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement has approved the import of 30,000 metric tonnes of MOP fertilizer from Russia’s JSC Foreign Economic Corporation ‘Prodintorg’ under state-level contracts. The total cost will be 95 crore 61 lakh 75 thousand taka. And per ton of fertilizer will cost 289.75 US dollars.
Apart from this, in view of two separate proposals, a total of 80,000 metric tons of DAP fertilizer has been approved for import from Benyan International Trading Limited of China under the state level agreement. In one lot, 40 thousand metric tons of DAP fertilizer has been approved for import at Tk 231 crore 55 lakh. In this case, the cost per metric ton will be 526.25 USD.
