The head of the CIA warns: “The alliance between Moscow and Tehran – a real danger to the countries of the Middle East”

The head of the CIA Bill Burns said that he is concerned about the tightening alliance between Iran and Russia. In an interview with the PBS television network, Burns said that as part of this alliance, in the framework of which Tehran supplies suicide drones to the Russian army, the latter is examining ways in which it can help Iran.

Burns said that he was “quite worried”, and added that “historically there is a lot of mistrust between Russia and Iran, but now they need each other. Now the seeds of a full security partnership between the countries are forming – the Iranians are supplying the Russians with drones that are literally killing Ukrainian citizens As we speak, the Russians are looking into how to assist the Iranians technically and technologically. And this constitutes a real threat to those around Iran, to many of our friends and allies in the neighborhood where it is located.”

According to the head of the CIA, the United States takes very seriously the “real dangers” facing countries in the Middle East because of the alliance between Moscow and Tehran.

Last week, senior US officials warned that Russia was providing an “unprecedented level” of military and technical support to Iran, in exchange for Tehran providing weapons for its war in Ukraine. A senior official in the Biden administration quoted by the NBC network said that “this partnership is a threat not only to Ukraine – but also to Iran’s neighbors in the region. We shared this information with our allies in the Middle East and around the world.”
