The president of the SDS holding Mikhail Fedyaev and the general director of SDS-Uglya, Gennady Alekseev, admitted responsibility for the accident at the Listvyazhnaya mine and the death of 51 people. They announced this at a meeting on the situation in the coal industry of Kuzbass.
“External factors officially showed that everything was fine there (at the mine – Ed.), But I have to admit that it was only apparent stability, since the death of 51 people catastrophically suppresses all former achievements and victories … I want to bring my own apologize and bow my head, I am ready to bear all the punishments, “Alekseev said (quoted by Interfax).
Fedyaev also said that he does not absolve himself of responsibility for what happened. According to him, the company has never skimped on security and protection means and bought the newest equipment. Listvyazhnaya has a three-stage control: gas analyzers on lamps, the Mikon-3 system, portable gas analyzers. “It turns out that the human factor canceled all this out … I am ready to bear any responsibility,” he stressed.
50% of the shares of SDS-Ugl, which is owned by Listvyazhnaya, belong to the president of the SDS holding Mikhail Fedyaev, another 25% – to Vladimir and Andrey Gridin.
On November 25, at the Listvyazhnaya mine (owned by the HC SDS-Ugol, a member of Mikhail Fedyaev’s Siberian Business Union), there was a strong smoke. According to the preliminary version of the prosecutor’s office, the explosion of methane was the cause of the accident. As a result, several dozen miners were injured, 51 people, including five mine rescuers, were killed. The search for their bodies continues in the mine. The Investigative Committee opened two criminal cases and charged the mine management with violation of industrial safety rules, and Rostekhnadzor inspectors with negligence during inspections.
