Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Industry and Minerals announced the details of the work of the continuous casting project, and while it indicated that it will transform the scrap into reinforcement “shutters” that will be included in the construction process, it confirmed that it will work with a capacity of 600 thousand tons annually.

The Director General of the General Company for Steel Industries in the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, Ahmed Hamid Zain al-Din, told the (INA): “The opening of the continuous casting project in the Ministry of Industry and Minerals by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani is a distinguished event in the history of Iraqi industry, because of the Important to support the construction and reconstruction process.”
He explained, “The factory will convert scrap material with its very large piles into iron billet material that can be used as a raw material in the production of reinforcing shutters, which will be in the second phase of this same factory, with a production capacity of up to 600 thousand tons annually.”
He added, “This factory was established according to a partnership contract with the private sector, which contributed very large sums of money and modern technology, and its establishment took into account environmental conditions, as the largest and most modern dust extraction system was connected to the work.”

For her part, the spokeswoman for the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, Doha Al-Jubouri, told the (INA), “Today, in the presence of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ Al-Sudani, the continuous casting project was opened in the Ministry of Industry and Minerals at the General Company for Steel Industries,” indicating that “the project has been suspended for years.” It was opened today in partnership with the Turkish company Nour Soy.
She stressed, “The Ministry, in light of the government program, is focusing on strategic industries, including the continuous casting project that produces iron billets (billets) that are used as a raw material for the production of rebar, and it is a complement to the rolling mill project that was opened in Basra.”
She pointed out that “the second phase of this project will be the rolling phase, which was announced by the Minister of Industry.”
