An ex-militant was rescued from Thandamalai forest area under Pattipalai area of Batticaloa district last Wednesday (08.03.2023) and handed over to the hospital.
In this case, the issues related to the ex-fighter are completely false, his family said in a press conference at the Batticaloa Media Center.
The sister and son-in-law of the ex-militant who was said to have been rescued from the forest have said this in a press conference in Batticaloa today.

“He didn’t stay in the middle of nowhere. He stayed at our own place. Apart from that, we also set up a shed for him to stay.
False information
At the same time, we have been giving him the food needed for cooking every week. We tried several times to get him to stay in our house but he refused and lived alone.
In this state, he used to live on the berries and fruits of the forest, and he was without care. We have to face many inconveniences due to the spread of false information through social media claiming to be mentally ill.
Also, it has been reported that he is a former philanthropist and many people in foreign countries are collecting money for his maintenance. No one should engage in such activities.

Some people want to make money from him. Even now, 3000 rupees is being paid to the carer every day for taking care of him.

The rescued person is Bala, an ex-militant, who was abandoned by his family for the past 4 years and was rescued in a mentally deranged condition.
He has been living in a remote shed in the forest area beyond Redpana village located in Thanthamalai area.
Members of the Democratic Militant Party and his fellow ex-militants approached him about the incident. On seeing them, Bala would disappear into the katu area.
It is also worth noting that after that he was observed day and night for several days, but last Wednesday the villagers and authorities admitted him to the hospital and gave him treatment.
