The III International Festival of Puppet Theaters “Hadi Poyrazoğlu Kukla ve Karagöz Festivali” will be held in Turkey and Azerbaijan. The team of the Azerbaijan State Puppet Theater will take part in the festival, the press service of the theater told Day.Az.
The purpose of the festival, organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO and TIKA (Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency), is to unite representatives of puppet theaters, popularize their national puppet theater traditions, as well as create the basis for the implementation of new joint projects .
The opening of the festival, which will be held from April 22 to May 2, will take place in the city of Ankara. Along with representatives of the Azerbaijani theater, groups from Germany and Italy will take part in the event.
On April 22-26, as part of the festival, performances will be shown at various venues in Ankara. On April 27 and 28, the festival marathon will continue in Istanbul.
The team of the Azerbaijan State Puppet Theater will perform in two cities, presenting the performances “Müsyö Jordan va Darviş Mästeli Shah” and “Mälikmämməd” (Melikmamed).
The last stop of the festival program (April 29 – May 2) will be the capital of Azerbaijan – the city of Baku. Representatives of the Turkish puppet theater will perform on the stage of the Azerbaijan State Puppet Theater.
Along with the performances, it is planned to hold an exhibition, as well as a seminar-presentation covering the process of making theatrical puppets.
