The dog named Balltze, better known on the internet as ‘Cheems’ passed away on Friday the 18th August after being diagnosed with cancer a few months back.

The Shiba Inu breed pet went viral in 2017, when its owner shared a funny photo of the animal sitting down, with an expression that captivated the internet.

“I thought I had a shibainu, but this is not it,” he wrote in that publication, which turned his ‘Ball Ball’ into a meme.

The sad news of his passing was shared by Kathy, the owner of ‘Cheems’, who adopted the dog when he was just one year old and created an Instagram account for him in 2015, where she shared photos that captured her daily mood.

His personality charmed the internet and his popularity grew so much that the meme flew from Hong Kong to the rest of the world.

That is why the internet is in mourning this Saturday, August 19, as Kathy shared a publication revealing that ‘Ball Ball’, as she called it, “fell asleep” on Friday morning during her last thoracentesis operation.

“Don’t be sad, please remember the joy that Balltze brought to the world. A Shiba Inu with a round and smiling face that connects you and me, he has helped many people during the pandemic and has brought much joy to many of you, but now his mission is over,” his owner wrote in the moving message. which he posted on the Instagram account.

“I think he’s running freely through the sky and eating delicious with his new friends. He will always be in my heart. I hope he can continue to bring joy to the whole world online, it is my only and humble request,” he said.

“You have all been very generous and helpful and I am truly grateful to all of you, your love and support for ‘Ball Ball’ is so unconditional and I have found it to be the purest love in the world, to have ‘Ball Ball’ in my life. It’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” he said.

About the donations and the money they had received to pay their medical bills, his family will donate it to local animal charities, according to Kathy in the ‘post’ that already has more than eleven thousand comments.
