The Iraqi Olympic team defeated its Egyptian counterpart 1-0 on Saturday evening in a friendly match hosted by the UAE Football Association Stadium in Dubai as part of their preparation for the AFC U-23 Championship.
The first half ended in a goalless draw, and the result remained the same in the second half until the last minute of the match, when the Iraqi team scored the winning goal in the 90th minute by player Halo Faeq.
The draw for the AFC U-23 Asian Cup placed Iraq in Group 3 alongside Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and Tajikistan. The tournament will kick off in April next year in Qatar.
The Iraqi Olympic team also defeated FC Akron, one of the first division clubs in the Russian league, 2-0 in a training match that took place between them last Wednesday in Dubai as part of their training camp in the United Arab Emirates.
