Certain local government politicians and officials have demanded to evaluate Lasmanis’s actions, while directing the session in the Budget Commission, he addressed the feet of a woman. The executive director of the municipality, Līga Lonerte (LZS), has invited the members of the municipality to evaluate, in her opinion, the violation of the nature of ethics in the actions of the council chairman by sending them a video from the commission’s meeting on March 13. The executive director told the deputies that, in her opinion, significant violations can be seen in Lasmanis’ actions. She turned to the deputies after the alarm raised by the administration employees.
The request was signed by four deputies of the Latvian Farmers’ Union – the deputy chairman of the city council Ilze Vītola, Lolita Duge, Juris Lavenieks and Juris Razživins, and three deputies elected from the list of the Association of Regions of Latvia – Dainis Liepiņš, Vidmants Rinkuns and Dina Tauriņa.
In such a case, the chairman of the council must call an extraordinary meeting of the council within ten days or include this issue in the agenda of the regular council meeting.
The office of the ombudsman has initiated an investigation case on possible bullying on the part of the chairman of the Jelgava regional council. The inspection case was initiated after one application received in the office, which was submitted by an employee of the Jelgava County Council.
On the other hand, after the video recording spread on social networks, Lasmanis urged the dismissal of the executive director of the municipality Lonerti, Lasmanis informed the LETA agency in a letter after Lonerte and other deputies came up with a call to evaluate his approach to the woman’s feet at the meeting of the city council commission. Lonerte considers her release from office instigated by the chairman of the council as a showdown.
Meanwhile, the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) confirmed to the LETA agency that a departmental inspection of the institution’s records was started on March 8, in which the KNAB sent a request for information to the Jelgava County Council and which includes the executive director of the municipality, Lonerte.
