The orchestra of the Joseph-Ki-Zerbo University of Kadiogo set the tone for the performances on the evening of Tuesday, April 30, 2024, as part of the competitions for the Grand Prix National des Arts et des Lettres (GPNAL) of the 21st edition of National Culture Week. The competitions for the Grand Prix National des Arts et des Lettres (GPNAL) of the 21st edition of the National Culture Week began on Tuesday April 30, 2024 with the orchestra of the University of Joseph Ki-Zerbo in the Orchestra Pool category adult. It’s a reassuring introduction to the title Lafia, a mix of Jazz and music from the Mossi region. Very quickly the group acquired the attention of the public, who, through loud cheers, praised these students who combine studies and microphone.

« It was a job that was very well done. I followed from the beginning and we gave advice that was followed to the letter, if not more. We are truly amazed. We also followed the performance of their direct competitors, if the jury has the same eyes and ears as us, we are sure that we will win the first prize without problem », he expressed himself.

The Joseph Ki-Zerbo University orchestra was reconstituted in 2018. The current team is participating in the GPNAL competitions for the first time. Arnaud Kuéla, the vocal lead of the group and his comrades came to win the competition. They expect a favorable response at the end of the deliberations. “ We gave the best of us. It’s true that there are very effective groups but, we keep faith, what we have produced is also up to par, we hope that it will work », he expresses.

Spectators found pleasure in listening to and observing the Joseph Ki-Zerbo University orchestra on the GPNAL stage. “ I find that it is a good service for students who are obliged to divide their time between studies and cultural activities. Also the outfit was good and the performance on stage », appreciated, Doctor Mahamoudou Oubda, lecturer in Contemporary History, vice-president of the university Norbert Zongo, former regional director of culture of the center.
