Watan Al-Youm – His Majesty King Abdullah II stressed, during his meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, today, Saturday, the importance of the strategic partnership between Jordan and Japan.
In a meeting held on the sidelines of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Dubai, His Majesty the King pointed out the Kingdom’s keenness to continue expanding the partnership with Japan in various fields, especially economic ones.
His Majesty referred to Jordan’s efforts in economic modernization and the challenges it faces due to the situation in the region.
For his part, the Japanese Prime Minister stressed that Jordan is one of Japan’s most important partners in the region and plays an essential role in it, stressing the importance of the partnership between the two countries and the need to work to strengthen it through economic and political cooperation.
He expressed Japan’s keenness to coordinate with Jordan as a key partner in the region, and to continue supporting the Kingdom economically and financially for its reform efforts and humanitarian role.
The meeting discussed the situation in Gaza, as the two sides stressed the need to work to reach a permanent ceasefire, increase and sustain humanitarian aid to the Strip and deliver it intensively and quickly.
His Majesty the King reiterated Jordan’s rejection of any attempt to displace Palestinians from Gaza, and any attempt to separate the West Bank and Gaza Strip, stressing the need to stop settler attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank.
The need to protect civilians and adhere to international laws in this regard was stressed, as both sides stressed that the two-state solution is the only way to achieve peace between Palestinians and Israelis.
His Majesty the King stressed that the two-state solution is the basis for peace in the region and part of its regional security, and the continuation of this war and its dire repercussions cannot be accepted.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Al-Khasawneh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Al-Safadi, and Director of His Majesty the King’s Office, Dr. Jaafar Hassan.
