The ancient Yves-du-Manoir stadium in Colombes, northwest of Paris, on Monday became the first site delivered for the 2024 Olympic Games (July 26 – August 11), where it will host the field hockey tournaments, a century after being at the heart of the 1924 Olympic Games. The two years of work enabled the historic stand, with a capacity of 6,000 seats, to be brought up to standard and a new stand for 1,000 seats to be built. During the Olympics, the two stands will each overlook a field hockey competition field. A third training pitch has been built, as well as four new football pitches, three rugby pitches and a new athletics oval. Built at the beginning of the 20th century, this legendary place in the history of French sport was the main host stadium for the 1924 Olympic Games, the last to be held in Paris and the last summer organized in France.
