The automatic station “Luna-25”, which will be launched in August as part of the first lunar mission in the history of modern Russia, was delivered to the Vostochny cosmodrome. About it reported in the press service of Roskosmos.

“On July 10, the station was sent from the enterprise to the cosmodrome, where it was delivered today by air and road transport,” the statement said.

Vostochny Luna-25 will have to undergo pre-flight training and final ground tests, as well as docking with the Fregat upper stage, which is designed to launch the station.

The fact that Luna-25 will be launched in August was reported at the end of May by Roscosmos. The launch was originally scheduled for July. The decision to postpone it was due to the need to “carry out additional measures that will ensure the stable operation of ground controls during the stages of corrections and landing on the surface.” According to the website of the tour operator RocketTrip, the launch is scheduled for August 11.

“Luna-25” should be the first lunar mission in the history of modern Russia, in which the station will make a soft landing in the region of the South Pole of the Moon. There she will collect lunar soil and deliver it to Earth. The project also plans to launch an automatic probe, the orbital part of which will make it possible to conduct remote research and select suitable sites for subsequent descent vehicles.
