The Minister of Electricity sponsors the signing of a contract with General Electric Company to modernize gas stations

Today, Tuesday, the Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadel, sponsored the signing of a contract with General Electric Company to modernize gas stations and recover lost energy, starting next June.

The ministry said in a statement received by the (INA): “Today, the Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadel, sponsored the signing ceremony of the gas station modernization contract between the General Company for Energy Production in the Middle Euphrates and the American (GE) company.”
He added, “Concluding the contract came as part of the ministry’s strategy to develop and modernize gas stations and recover lost energy from the same current units.”
In a speech at the signing ceremony, the Minister of Electricity appreciated “the efforts of the technical committees that worked over the past period to complete the requirements for implementing the contract in coordination with the American company.”
He stressed that “GE will undertake the introduction of modern technologies for 12 gas stations, increase the efficiency of 48 generating units, and recover lost energies by (548) megawatts from the same current units,” pointing out that “next June will witness the introduction of (200) megawatts of energies.” “The lost energy is the first stage, and other energies will be introduced successively.”
He continued, “We will recover lost energies amounting to (548) megawatts from 12 gas stations, and we will increase the efficiency of 48 generating units,” pointing out that “concluding the contract with (GE) comes as part of the ministry’s strategy to develop and modernize gas stations and recover lost energies from the same current units.”
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Electricity concluded a memorandum of understanding with GE in Washington during the visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to supply the national system with 3,000 new megawatts and long-term maintenance for 5 years for electrical stations throughout Iraq.
