The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergei Lavrov, arrived in New York, where on July 16-17 he will chair the open discussion at ministerial level in the United Nations Security Council.
Today, Tuesday, Lavrov is to begin ministerial-level discussions on the subject of “Multilateral cooperation for the establishment of a more just, democratic and sustainable world order,” and on Wednesday he will chair a ministerial meeting to discuss a case i. the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said earlier that Lavrov’s visit program has not yet been completed, and several countries have expressed interest in holding bilateral meetings with him.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told reporters that the United States had not requested a meeting between Lavrov and his American counterpart, Anthony Blinken, on the sidelines of the United Nations proceedings in New York.
