The Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Nature and Parks Authority operate during the Holy Week staff members from the “Naki” association in several nature reserves and national parks to maintain contact and dialogue with visitors with the aim of encouraging them to take personal responsibility in the matter of cleanliness.

The explainers will work in Ein Hadralit in Nahal Kaziv, in the north of the Kinneret, in Beit Yanai National Park, in the Paratroopers’ Grove near Palmahim and in the Einot Tzukim reserve.

The audience of visitors will receive an explanation of the importance of behavior that respects nature, including avoiding leaving dirt, and the effect of noise pollution on the environment. Staff members will encourage the use of reusable tools and more.

The activity is another pillar of the policy led by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Nature and Parks Authority according to which a clean place is a place where you don’t pollute.

The planned activity is financed by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and is part of a broad movement led by the Ministry to improve the cleanliness of the public space. As part of this move, the ministry issued a call to the authorities, the support of which was won by about a hundred authorities, and they are currently working to change the behavior of residents in the urban public space.

Raya Sorki, Director General of the Nature and Parks Authority: “The activity that begins on Hol HaMoed constitutes the first milestone in a long-term process which, at the end, I believe, the traveling public will act with more awareness and responsibility for their activities in the open areas. Success is in the hands of each and every one of you, visitors to reserves and gardens, to lead to a clean environment.”

Elad Amichai, Senior Vice President for Local Government and Community at the Ministry of Environmental Protection: “We aim to expand the project that is currently focused on the urban public space – also to the open spaces. We appeal to each and every one of us to accept responsibility for the dirt we produce. Together we will create a cleaner and better quality environment, for all of us.”
