New Delhi – NCP to contest in Karnataka assembly elections. Last day, NCP leader Sharad Pawar met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi in Delhi for opposition unity. After this, NCP announced that it will contest in Karnataka, which is a big setback for Congress. NCP has announced that it will contest in 40-45 seats. Currently BJP-Congress-JDS triangular competition is going on in Karnataka.

Senior leader Praful Patel said that it needs to regain its status as a national party and that is why it is entering the contest. NCP was left out of the list of national parties released by the Election Commission recently. Manipur, Goa and Meghalaya also lost state party status. The NCP’s symbol, the alarm clock, will be contested in Karnataka.

Meanwhile, there is also a move to contest with the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti. The Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti is a party that works on the Karnataka-Maharashtra border. The entry of NCP is a big blow to the Congress which is campaigning hard to end the corrupt rule of the BJP.
