One of the last and largest private libraries in Italy becomes public. The Galasso family donated the books (and bookcases) of the great Italian historian to the Accademia dei Lincei. The library that Galasso had in his home in Pozzuoli has been recreated in Rome down to the smallest details

On October 20th the library of. was inaugurated at the Accademia dei Lincei in Rome Giuseppe Galasso (1929-2018), one of the major European historians of the last century and among the protagonists of the Italian political and cultural debate. The over 35 thousand volumes dedicated to the history and civilization of Italy and Europe are a testamentary legacy of the great Neapolitan historian, a Lincean since 1977. From now on they are available to scholars and the public at the Accademia dei Lincei.
Together with the library, as announced by the president of the Lincei Roberto Antonelli, the Study Center for interdisciplinary studies on the South was also inaugurated. The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella was also present at the inauguration of the library at the Accademia dei Lincei (“Galasso was a master between history and politics”, said the Head of State among other things – Here is the article by Natascia Festa).
Professor Giuseppe Galasso was a collaborator of the Corriere della Sera and the Corriere del Mezzogiorno for many years.
