The airports

Thousands of Italians had chosen to spend their holidays abroad after the government’s decision to confirm the ban on travel between regions until 30 April and to decree the red zone throughout Italy for the Easter holidays, thus preventing any kind of transfer. The only exception to travel concerns the journey to the airport. In a registered note that responds to a request from Astoi, the association of Italian tour operators, on the possibility of going to the airport for tourism even when there are restrictions, the Ministry of the Interior clarified: Movements aimed at reaching the place of departure are justified of this type of travel which, as generally allowed, cannot be subjected to compressions or limitations to their performance, therefore it is sufficient to be equipped with self-certification.

The other prohibitions

The rules are more stringent for those who decide to go to other countries. Those returning from Austria, the UK and the US must undergo the 14-day quarantine. Fiduciary isolation on return to Italy also been established for those who go in Australia, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Rwanda, Singapore, Thailand. Going to all other states for banned tourism, but many have decided to circumvent the rule self-certifying other reasons and then carrying out 14 days of isolation on return.

Easter in red

For the Easter the government has decided to limit movements as much as possible. On 3, 4 and 5 April all of Italy will be in the red zone. The only window is the possibility to reach friends and relatives only once a day, within one’s own region. In this case you can move in two people at most, bringing with you minors under 14 and disabled or non self-sufficient cohabiting people, who are not counted.

The second box

For the Easter holidays it will also be possible to go to second homes – even if they are in the red zone – but only the family unit (which must have the title before 14 January 2021) and provided there are no other people. Many governors have decided to put limits. Only residents of the region can go to South Tyrol, Tuscany, Marche and Valle d’Aosta. Nobody can go to Liguria, Campania and Puglia, not even the residents. Only residents with a negative swab carried out in the previous 48 hours or the certificate of vaccination against Covid enter Sardinia. You can enter Sicily only with a negative swab carried out 48 hours before arrival.
