A hacker claims to have hijacked the personal data of more than 1 billion Chinese, recovered from a database of the national police in Shanghai (SHGA). If this information is confirmed, it would be the biggest data disclosure case ever recorded, notes the The Wall Street Journal. The information has not been commented on by the Chinese government, which in November 2021 implemented a law on the protection of personal data focused on the actions of companies.

It is on a hacker forum called Breach Forums that the one who presents himself under the pseudonym of “ChinaDan” offered for sale, last week, 23 terabytes of data against 10 bitcoins, the equivalent of 200,000 dollars. (194,000 euros). This would represent 750,000 data.

This data includes “first and last names, identity card numbers, telephone numbers, dates and places of birth, as well as detailed notes on crimes reported to the police – ranging from simple theft to internet fraud or domestic violence ”, Write the Wall Street Journal.

Facts and documents dating back to 1995 at the earliest and 2019 at the latest. A few telephone checks carried out on a sample made available by the hacker showed that this data corresponded to real individuals, notes the daily:
