jpnn.comMANADO – Personnel from the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of the North Sulawesi (Sulut) Regional Police thwarted the delivery of gold bars weighing 10 kilograms (Kg) which were suspected to be illegal.

The police suspect that the gold bullion is the result of gold mining without a permit (PETI) in the jurisdiction of the North Sulawesi Regional Police.

North Sulawesi Police Chief Inspector General Yudhiawan said that his party had uncovered and arrested the suspect.

“In this case there are three suspects, consisting of one woman and two men, self-employed and residents of Manado,” he said in Manado, Wednesday (24/4).

The three suspects are female LS (58), male MR (35), and RH (36). The three of them were arrested on Tuesday (23/4) at around 12.15 WITA, at Sam Ratulangi Airport, Manado.

Inspector General Yudhiawan said the disclosure of the case was thanks to information from the public, then members of the Ditreskrimsus carried out an investigation.

After that, the team arrested the suspects and thwarted the delivery of 19 gold bars weighing 10 kg without ownership documents.

“The gold was put together in a backpack, then the suspect would be taken to Surabaya via Sam Ratulangi Airport,” he said.
