Against the background of the signing of the maritime border agreement between Lebanon and Israel, the president of the Land of Cedars, Michel Aon, who is to leave the presidential palace tomorrow, was interviewed today (Saturday) by the news agency “Reuters” and referred to Hezbollah’s role in reaching the agreement. The Lebanese president also attacked Israel on his personal Twitter account and tweeted that “Israel used to take from the Arabs, but this time we are the ones who took from it.”
In the meantime, Aon stated that “the Hezbollah organization served as a deterrent in the indirect negotiations to demarcate the maritime borders with Israel. According to him, “launching the UAVs towards Asderat Harish was a useful initiative.” This, after the secretary general of the organization, Hassan Nasrallahspoke last Thursday and said that “this is a great victory for Lebanon, as a nation and as a resistance. The negotiations were indirect, Lebanon did not sit next to Israel under the same roof. The secretary general of the Shiite terrorist organization also emphasized that “what happened is a great victory for Lebanon and the resistance. Today, Lebanon completed an important chapter towards a new phase.” He also announced the end of the special state of alert in Hezbollah, which was announced around the issue of registering the borders.

This is a great achievement for the State of Israel, and an achievement for the government of Israel. This is an agreement that strengthens and fortifies the Israel’s security and our freedom of action against Hezbollah and the threats from the north.”
The Prime Minister added that “this is a political achievement, it is not every day that an enemy country recognizes the State of Israel, in a written agreement, in front of the entire international community. It is not every day that the United States and France stand behind us and provide security and economic guarantees for the agreement.” Later in his speech, Lapid noted that this is “an economic achievement. Production began yesterday from the Harish reservoir. Israel will receive 17% of the profits of the Hana-Sidon reservoir, the Lebanese reservoir, which will bring money into the state economy that will be used for welfare and health, education and security.”
