Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presented ‘Ekushey Padak-2024’ to 21 distinguished citizens for their contribution in various fields including language, arts, education.

The Prime Minister presented the award at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Tuesday (20 February) at 11 am.

Each was awarded a gold medal, lump sum and certificate. Earlier, on February 13, the names of 21 dignitaries were announced for the Ekushey Padak.

This year two people were given the award in language movement category, 12 people in arts, two people in social service, four people in language and literature and one in education.

Distinguished recipients of medals are: Distinguished recipients of medals are: Language movement. Ashrafuddin Ahmad (posthumous) and heroic freedom fighter Hatem Ali Mia (posthumous). Music by Jalal Uddin Khan (posthumous), veteran freedom fighter Kalyani Ghosh, Vidit Lal Das (posthumous), Andrew Kishore (posthumous) and Shubhra Dev.

Besides Shibli Mohammad in dance, Dolly Zahoor and MA Alamgir in acting, Khan Md in recitation. Mustafa Waleed (Shimul Mustafa) and Rupa Chakraborty, Shahjahan Ahmed Bikas in painting, Kawsar Chowdhury in making and archiving documentary films related to liberation war, Md. in social service. Ziaul Haque and Alhaj Rafiq Ahmed, Muhammad Samad, Lutfar Rahman Riton, Minar Mansoor and Rudra Muhammad Shahidullah (posthumously) in language and literature and Prof. Jinbodhi Bhikshu Ekushey in education.
