The GS Group holding began production of the first Russian media hubs “Seliger” in the Kaliningrad region, informed Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia. They are developed using patented domestic technologies.
GS Group won the tender for a subsidy for the development of a Russian multi-service digital platform in 2020. In addition to home media servers, it is planned to develop a smart home controller and a network router. The company should provide these solutions in the summer of 2025. In total, the enterprise will release more than 500,000 devices.
“The total cost of the project is 1.25 billion rubles. A significant part of the project is covered by a subsidy from the Ministry of Industry and Trade,” said Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Vasily Shpak.
Media hubs are designed to receive, view and store digital media content.
On August 15, the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media presented a draft strategy for the development of the communications industry in Russia until 2035. According to the strategy, by 2030 Russia plans to complete the use of 3G technology and begin the development and trial operation of domestic equipment of 5G and 6G-Ready standards , as well as the introduction of the practice of sharing the core infrastructure by mobile operators for the deployment of 5G networks, and by 2035 – 6G. Until 2035, in all cities with a population of 100,000 or more, it is planned to deploy 5G networks on domestic equipment.
