The Attorney General’s Office announced the temporary suspension of arrest warrants against nine members of the self-proclaimed ‘Segunda Marquetalia’. This measure was taken within the framework of its participation in the Peace Dialogue Table with the National Government.

The Attorney General of the Nation, Luz Adriana Camargo Garzón based this decision on Resolution No. 065. issued by the President of the Republic on February 28, 2024, and within the framework of its constitutional, legal and regulatory powers.

According to Resolution No. 00139 of April 12, 2024, the President of the Republic is the only competent authority to recognize the political status of an armed group organized outside the law. Furthermore, the Head of State has the constitutional power to decide whether to hold dialogues with a view to reaching agreements with said organizations.

The Prosecutor’s Office, after reviewing the request and considering the budgets established in Decree 1081 of 2015, has proceeded with the temporary suspension of arrest warrants. This is based on the existence of a negotiation table with the ‘Second Marquetalia’, the designation of nine representative members to participate in the Peace Dialogue Table, and the express recognition by the President of the Republic through Resolution No. 065 of 2024.

It is important to highlight that this measure does not stop the investigative activity of the Prosecutor’s Office on these people. The temporary suspension affects only arrest warrants issued or that are issued against the following individuals: José Aldinever Sierra Sabogal, José Vicente Lesmes, William Danilo Malaver López, Alberto Cruz Lobo, Geovanny Andrés Rojas, Luis André Figueroa Marín, Allende Perilla Sandoval, José Darley Malagón Jiménez and Henry Quiñones Angulo.
