To bring the issue of smog in Ioannina to the regional council for discussion, the faction “Kiono ton Epirotes” once again calls on the regional authority, on the occasion of the alarming results, brought to light by the IQAir 2023 report.
Based on what is reflected in the report of the Swiss air quality technology company, which monitors air quality worldwide, Ioannina is the city with the most air pollution in Greece.
On January 11, the “Kiono ton Epirotes” submitted a proposal for discussion in the Regional Council on the issue of smog, a discussion that has never taken place until today. The aim of the new request, as stated, is to define the framework of claims, so that the government realizes the seriousness and urgency of the problem, and proceeds with the implementation of serious and targeted programs to deal with energy costs and air pollution in our region with use of RES, the enhancement of the energy efficiency of buildings and whatever else is required to address the problem. “Why can pollution recede as the temperature rises, but its effects on the health of the inhabitants remain”, he concludes in a press release.
