The company’s general manager, Haider Nouri Al-Karaawi, told the (INA): “There is a great trend by the government to support the current marketing season after the government supported it in the previous marketing season, as we achieved self-sufficiency in producing five million and 200 thousand tons of wheat last season.” “, indicating that “the production of the current season will be 6 million tons of wheat, according to the expectations of the Ministry of Agriculture.”

He added, “Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani held a meeting regarding wheat marketing and directed the Ministry of Finance to secure the amounts for the marketing and agricultural season by allocating warehouses to the General Company for Grain Trade, with great attention to the farmer,” pointing out that “all farmers will receive their dues, including farmers outside the allocated plan, considering they are farmers.” They paid a lot of money.”

He stressed that “about one million and 800 thousand tons of wheat are still remaining from last season, which will be added to the marketed quantity for the current season, so that the total quantity for this season will be 7 million and 800 thousand tons, or about 8 million tons,” pointing out that “this quantity is large and requires storage sites.” big”.

He stated that “our warehouses are not sufficient to store more than 6 million tons, as there will be a larger surplus of about one and a half million to two million tons,” pointing out that “this requires coordination with the governors to store these quantities, as we began work in Nineveh Governorate, which has allocated 4 billion dinars.” To build warehouses in Nineveh, we headed to the Holy Karbala Governorate, and there is high coordination, as three bunkers were built in Holy Karbala, and we allocated new warehouses in coordination with the governor, given that there are large quantities received from the governorate.”

He stated, “Coordination was made with the Governor of Anbar and it was agreed to build three bunkers in the coming days,” explaining, “Yesterday we coordinated with the Governor of Salah al-Din in the process of completing large warehouses and many bunkers in Salah al-Din, which require small amounts, and which upon completion will provide other storage capacities.”

He pointed out that “it was agreed with the governor that the Shirqat silo would be converted, which could achieve a storage capacity of 50 thousand tons after repairing some of the electrical equipment in it.”

He stated that “the General Company for Grain Trade will begin completing the warehouses in Silo Al-Sharqat, after the governorate was unable to complete it,” pointing out that “there is a trip to Najaf Governorate and a meeting with the governor to prepare warehouses in preparation for receiving large quantities of wheat.”
