ALICANTE. Alicante City Council continues to take steps to improve services and communications with the industrial areas of the city. The reinforcement of the urban bus to the polygons with the line 7P implemented in February with the entry into force of the new contract with the operator Vectalia MIA, which improves the frequencies and connections of the previous line 7, has registered a 52% increase in the number of users to almost 120,000 in these 10 months.

The Councilor for Urban Mobility, Carlos de Juanhas explained in this regard that since the launch of the new line 7P, which connects the city from Óscar Esplá avenue to the business area of ​​Las Atalayas, passing through the industrial estates of Llano del Espartal and Pla de la Vallonga in February of this year 2023 and until last November there has been an increase in travelers of 52%, going from 78,788 travelers in the period February-November 2022 to 119,581 in the same period of 2023.

“The implementation of this split of line 7 to improve the urban bus service in industrial and business areas with the entry into force of the new contract last February has made it possible to improve frequencies and connections and, therefore, provide better service as is being verified with the passenger data of these first 10 months, in which the number of users has increased by 52%, specifically by 40,793 people,” explained the mayor.

Both services, line 7 and its complementary line 7P, link with industrial areas, but the reinforcement has allowed the service to improve. In this sense, line 7P has registered a total of 33,099 passengers in these 10 months, compared to the 86,482 of line 7, which also has stops in other neighborhoods and in rural areas by extending its route to Bacarot.

The line of 7P bus It connects the traditional center from Óscar Esplá Avenue, where it has its head, to its terminus in the main artery of ‘Atalayas. Business City’ through 22 stops that allow access by bus, from 7:15 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. on weekdays on a journey with an estimated duration of 28 minutes throughout its entire route, with nine daily services in each direction, to areas of interest such as the Courts of Benalúa, routes that concentrate numerous medium-sized commercial areas such as Orihuela Avenue and the Ocaña highway, Mercalicante in the Llano del Espartal and that continue to the Pla de la Vallonga industrial estate. and Atalayas, making a circular route in both industrial areas to facilitate the arrival and collection of workers to their work centers.

Line 7P is complemented by line 7 with which it coincides in part of its itinerary, although it extends its route providing service to other areas of interest such as the ITV and the Fontnivel Penitentiary Center through the industrial area of ​​Pla de la Vallonga and with the district of El Rebolledo, increasing its frequencies and services between 6:20 and 9:30 p.m. with 14 one-way connections and as many return connections on weekdays and with one less on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Carlos de Juan has also pointed out that he continues to work together with businessmen and those responsible for the Management and Modernization Entity of Las Atalayas to improve other services that facilitate sustainable mobility, such as the car-sharing project, generating a reserve of places. parking for vehicles that register in the service that will be managed by the EGM and that is expected to be put into service in a short period of time.
