A diner in a Chinese restaurant was served a dish made from cooked poisonous octopus. A highly poisonous octopus with blue rings on its body was served on the plate. However, the diner got suspicious and took a picture of the food on the plate and posted it on the Chinese social media platform Weibo. Someone noticed the post and commented below the picture that this is a highly poisonous octopus and should never be eaten.
A restaurant visitor in China’s Guangdong province was served a highly poisonous octopus. Sharing the picture on social media, he wrote that he wants to help him identify the species of this octopus and let him know if it is edible.
A food blogger noticed the post and gave him the exact reply. His reply was that what is sitting on your plate is a highly poisonous octopus with blue rings, steaming does not remove its toxicity and you should never eat it. He also mentioned that there have been incidents of these types of octopuses being accidentally caught among common octopuses before.

Finally, he himself responded and said on social media that he did not eat the food as the blogger’s post came to his attention in time and after informing the restaurant authorities, they removed the food from there.
According to the environmental group Ocean Conservancy, blue-ringed octopuses may appear harmless but can easily kill humans. Native to the Pacific Ocean, these octopuses usually hide in shells, marine debris, or crevices. Blue rings appear on the body to warn predators when threatened. It contains a powerful venom that is capable of killing several humans within a few minutes. These octopuses are known as one of the most dangerous marine creatures in the deep ocean.
