KRAMATORSK – Evgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner group, at the end of January offered the Ukrainian government the location of Russian forces in exchange for the withdrawal of Kiev troops from the besieged city of Bakhmut, where the Wagner mercenaries were suffering heavy losses. The US newspaper explains that Prigozhin reportedly passed on the proposal to his contacts within Ukrainian military intelligencewith whom he maintained secret communications during the war, according to leaked US intelligence documents on the Discord platform. The contacts were also confirmed by two Ukrainian officers. The documents confirm how Putin’s chef he is en route to the top of the Russian General Staff, in particular with the Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov described as a “command shit”. And they suggest how much his fate hangs in the balance. Prigozhin is well aware that his political survival – and probably his physical one too – is hand in glove with Vladimir Putin.
