  • A series of explosions were heard Sunday morning at Odessa, coastal city of the Black Sea, in the south-west of Ukraine, noted an AFP journalist. The explosions, which occurred around 6 a.m., caused at least three columns of black smoke and visible flames, apparently in an industrial zone, but caused no casualties, according to the Ukrainian army.
  • The Russian and Ukrainian negotiators have not yet drafted draft peace agreement which makes it possible to envisage summit meetings, in particular between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, declared Sunday the principal Russian negotiator. Vladimir Medinski clarified on the Telegram application that negotiations with kyiv would resume on Monday.
  • Ukraine announced on Saturday that the entire region of Kiev was now “liberated”Russian forces operating a “quick withdrawal” north of the country, while testimonies report the killing of civilians in some of these areas. Nearly three hundred people had to be buried “in mass graves” at Boutchaand corpses lay in the streets of this suburb of the capital.
  • The city of Marioupol, in the southeast of the country, remains besieged and shelled relentlessly. At least 5,000 people have died and 160,000 civilians are still believed to be stranded, according to Ukrainian sources. The Red Cross and Moscow blame each other for the difficulties in evacuating these inhabitants.
  • The BBC reported on Saturday evening, with supporting video, that a Russian attack helicopter was shot in the Luhansk region in eastern Ukraine. British radio and television noted the possible link between the weapon which destroyed the device and the possibility mentioned by London in March of supplying high-speed man-portable missiles to Ukraine.
  • Ukraine’s chief negotiator in the peace talks affirmed on Saturday that Russia had accepted “orally” the main proposals of his country, with the exception of that concerning Crimea, adding that kyiv was now awaiting written confirmation. Moscow did not react.
  • The Baltic States have stopped importing Russian natural gas who “has not been sent to Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania since 1is avril », the manager of the Latvian storage company Conexus Baltic Grid said on Saturday. The Baltic countries are now served by gas reserves stored underground in Latvia.
  • More than 170 people were arrested on Saturday in Russia for actions of protest against the Russian offensive in Ukraine, estimated the NGO OVD-Info, which specializes in monitoring arrests in the country.
  • The conflict has already forced more than 4,1 millions Ukrainians to flee their country, according to the UN. In total, more than ten million people, more than a quarter of the population, have had to leave their homes either by crossing the border to take refuge in neighboring countries, or by finding refuge elsewhere in Ukraine.
