BERLIN: Bayern Munich struggled to survive on home soil after an unexpected defeat. The German giants will once again clash with Spanish club Villarreal in the second quarter of the Champions League quarter-finals. In another match, Real Madrid will face English club Chelsea at home, halfway to the semi-finals. Both matches will take place on Tuesday night at 12.30pm.
Bayern Munich, champions of the Champions League, lost to Villarreal in the first quarter by an unassailable margin. Despite dominating the game and conceding 22 shots, the German club were unable to break Vieira’s defense. At the start of the game, Arnaud Danuma scored for the Spanish club to hold on. Bayern are confident of walking the second quarter at their home ground, the Alliance Arena.
Vieira, who successfully crossed the first quarter on defense, is unlikely to change tactics on the opponent’s ground.
