Operators’ retirement is calculated over their entire career and not over the best 25 years, an injustice that the government wants to put an end to. But the scenarios chosen are not the right ones, believe some senators.

The agricultural question continues to divide the political spectrum. According to our information, several LR senators are preparing to table a bill aimed at “guarantee a fair and equitable method of calculating basic retirement pensions for self-employed workers in agricultural professions”. The elected representatives of the upper house were not convinced by the way in which the government intends to reform the method of calculating pensions. The subject of this quarrel could well reignite the anger of farmers.

According to INSEE statistics, France has 1.3 million former self-employed farmers. Their direct pension amounts to, on average 840 euros gross per month, compared to 1,530 euros for all retirees.
