It is well known how complicated it is to produce and shoot action scenes of sports game, especially when it is necessary to re-propose truly accomplished deeds; “Winning Time” thus prefers to focus on the relationships between the characters, in particular the “rivalry” between star Kareem Abdul-Jabar (Solomon Hughes) and rising star Magic Johnson (Quincy Isaiah), who will become one of the mythology of the NBA, but also on the curated writing of a controversial character come Jerry West, underdog coach and new general manager of the club. Produced by Adam McKay and inspired by the book «Showtime»the series presents an original visual construction, a deliberately 70’s style, “dirty”, minimal ea low definition, with the actors who often “break the fourth wall” explaining situations to the public; choices that lead the viewer to to dive fully within an atmosphere, expedients that displace even in those situations in which the narration struggles to take off.
