Lebanon threatens Israel with escalation if the signing of the maritime border registration agreement is delayed. In the meantime, the Lebanese objections to the drafts were submitted last night to the American embassy, which mediates between the parties | Israel still does not respond

Meanwhile, the registration of the maritime border between Israel and Lebanon: a high-ranking Lebanese official threatens Israel with escalation if it delays the signing of the border registration agreement. This is reported by the Lebanese newspaper al-Akhbar close to Hezbollah.

According to the source, a refusal on the part of Yair Lapid’s government to the Lebanese resolutions submitted on the eve of Yom Kippur to the American embassy means “opening the door to uncontrolled escalation” and “a military explosion on both sides of the border.”

On the eve of Yom Kippur, the Lebanese government submitted to the American embassy in Beirut the list of achievements for the draft maritime border agreement with Israel, the Reuters news agency reported.

In this regard, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Elias Bou Saev estimated that on the one hand the submissions made will not fail the final signing of the agreement, even if the Lebanese government does not accept the draft submitted last week as it is.

In an interview that Saev gave to the Lebanese LBC channel, he added: “From our point of view, the negotiations are over, today we have come to talk about it as a commercial deal for all intents and purposes.” He also said in the interview that “Lebanon will not pay a single penny to Israel for the Kana gas field.” and that “Israel will have no rights to the field”, which is on both sides of the 23rd line, on the basis of which the maritime border area between the two countries was outlined.

We will recall that this week it was reported that the alternate Prime Minister Naftali Bennett received the details of the agreement being formed between Israel and Lebanon and will decide according to its content whether to oppose it or to approve it in the government or the cabinet. However, he will be able to veto and thwart the approval of the agreement only if it is submitted for approval by the government and will not be able to object if it is submitted for approval only in the political and security cabinet.

In the meantime, the opposition claims a hijacker and surrender to terrorism, with former Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu at the head of the chorus of critics who demands that the details of the agreement be disclosed to all Israeli citizens before it is signed, and some demand that it be approved by the Knesset or that a referendum be held to decide the issue.
